Women of the Bible Lesson 14 Jael: A Story of Courage Part 12 Spiritual Weapons

2 Corinthians 10:4-6, “For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete.” (AMPC)    Today we will begin looking at our next spiritual weapon: Fasting.  To begin, we will look at examples of times of fasting in the Word.    First, in Deuteronomy 9 we see that Moses fasted while he was on the mountain receiving the Ten Commandments. Deut. 9:9-10, “When I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant whic...

2 Corinthians 10:4-6, “For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), Being in readiness to punish every [insubordinate for his] disobedience, when your own submission and obedience [as a church] are fully secured and complete.” (AMPC)   Today we will be continuing our study on: The Name of Jesus.  Last week we looked at our authority to use the Name of Jesus. To recap, we have been made kings and priests unto God.  Additionally, we have been given Jesus’ Power of Attorney.  Today I want to look at four of the benefits to praying in Jesus’ Name.  I want to begin by laying a foundation for ...

(NLT) (Italics mine)  Ephesians 1:19-21, “And [so that you can know and ...

Today we will look at another weapon, Worship.     Worship is a condition of the heart. It is purposeful and intentional elevation of God above everything else.i  “Worship is one of the most important things human beings can do, not because...

Women of the Bible Lesson 10 Jael: A Story of Courage Part 8 Armor of God

Today we will look at the final piece of the armor we have been provided through Holy Spirit to protect us in our spiritual battles.     Ephesians 6:14-18 gives us a list of the armor we have been provided through Holy Spirit. “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” (NLT)    Prayer is the last weapon we find in Ephesians 6:18. John Wesley said, “God does nothing but by prayer, and everything with it.”   Paul knew that prayer could not be equated to a single piece of weaponry because it is more powerful, accurate, ...

Women of the Bible Lesson 9 Jael: A Story of Courage Part 7 Armor of God

Today we will continue talking about the armor we have been provided through the Holy Spirit to protect us in our spiritual battles.    Ephesians 6:14-18 gives us a list of the armor we have been provided through the Holy Spirit. “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” (NLT)   I want to begin with a quote from Charles Spurgeon, “TO BE A CHRISTIAN is to be a warrior. The good soldier of Jesus Christ must not expect to find ease in this world: it is a battle-field. Neither must he reckon upon the friendship of the world; for that ...
