Women of the Bible Lesson 23 Believers Authority: Declaring and Decreeing Part 2

Last week we learned about using declarations and decrees as part of our authority as believers.  Today I want to explain how I write decrees as well as giving some sample decrees.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert by any means. I have, however, read and studied under some anointed teachers and have been practicing decree writing for a couple of years.

To begin I want to describe my process for decree writing. When I am faced with a challenge or issue that requires divine intervention, I write a decree. I write them for loved ones and friends as well.

The first step is to look up all the scriptures that talk about the issue.  For example, if I am dealing with a financial issue, I look up all the scriptures that talk about money, provision, abundance, blessings...

Next, I read all the scriptures I found when I did my search.  This could be a short list or a long list depending on the topic.  I read each one to determine which ones speak to the issue.

Thirdly, once I have my short list of verses, I read through them again to see which ones speak to me and boost my faith. It is beneficial to read them aloud.  Remember, faith comes by hearing the Word of God.  As I hear the Word spoken out loud my faith begins to grow taller and stronger.  Which ones can I sink my teeth into and hold onto in faith? These are the ones that I use in writing my decree.

Fourth, I take the scriptures and write them with my name in them and/or from the first-person point of view. To illustrate, Matthew 6:33 (ESV) says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” If I were using this verse, I would write something like: As I am seeking God’s kingdom, living righteously, and giving Him first place in my life, He is adding to me, and all my needs are being met.

Finally, when my decree is written I then boldly begin to declare it out loud.  Isaiah 55:11, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (MEV) God’s Word always brings results!

Remember from last week's lesson, when we declare and decree God’s Word, Holy Spirit begins to move to make it so, angels are summoned to our aide, spiritual opposition is destroyed, and the promises of God are made manifest in the earth as it is in Heaven.

Another reminder: God speaks, and things happen.  The Word never says, “and God thought... and it was so.”  It says, “Then God said, “Let there be... and it was so.” If God has to speak to create, we need to speak as well.  From Isaiah 55:11 above, “...My word be that goes forth from My mouth...”

There are a couple of different ways I write decrees.  One way is to write each verse out individually, putting it in first person.  The other way is to put the scriptures together in paragraph form still using a person’s name and/or first-person perspective.  I will give examples of each way below.

Sample Decree One: Individual scriptures in first-person.

Standing on your word, Father, I am decreeing financial freedom and abundance in my life.

I am declaring:

But my God shall supply my every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians . 4:19)

His divine power has granted to me all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called me to his own glory and excellence,… (2 Peter 1:3)

And God is able to make all grace abound to me, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, I may abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)

I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread. He is ever lending generously, and I become a blessing. (Psalm 37:25-26)

AS I seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to me. (Matthew 6:33)

“And if I faithfully obey the voice of the Lord my God, being careful to do all his commandments, the Lord my God will set me high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon me and overtake me, if I obey the voice of the Lord my God.  (Deuteronomy 28:1-2)

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that you may have life and have it abundantly. (John 10:10)

My eyes look to you, and you give me food in due season. You open your hand; you satisfy my desires. The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. (Psalm 145:15-17)

In the mighty name of Jesus, I bind all attempts of Satan and his minions to sway my thinking. Amen! I walk in abundance!!

I live by faith!!  I am not moved by what I see.  I am not moved by what I hear.  I am only  moved by what is in Your WORD.  And I am decreeing financial freedom and abundance by faith in the Word of the Almighty God!

I understand that I have been made a king and priest unto the Lord. (Revelation 1:6)

I also understand that it was by the Word of His Power that God created everything seen and unseen. (Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 20, 24, 26;  Hebrews 1:3).

Your word says in Proverbs 18:21 “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”  I am declaring life today.  I will not allow any negative words to come out of my mouth.  I will not confess anything contrary to my financial freedom and abundance!!!! I will continually give You praise and offer up thanksgiving for my financial freedom and abundance!

Sample Decree Two: Scriptures in paragraph style.

I decree that ____ knows he is accepted by God and understands his identity in Christ. He knows he is loved and accepted by you.  He walks in confidence of your love.  Your Word tells him that you love him and showed it by sending your son to die for him.  He has been called a son of God and he is your masterpiece, he was created intentionally by God for good works. ____ is an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus Christ. He is more than a conqueror through Christ. He is chosen and appointed by God to bear much lasting fruit. ____ has been delivered from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of God and has forgiveness through to sacrifice of Christ.  He is a friend of God.  (Romans 5:8; John 1:12; Ephesians 2:10; Romans 8:17; Romans 8:37; John 15:16; Colossians 1:13-14; John 15:15)

In conclusion, decree writing is sometimes called by other names, such as covenant writing or faith declarations, however, no matter the title given it is about finding out what God says about your situation and applying your faith to that Word by decreeing it out loud and then not allowing yourself to say anything contrary to what you are decreeing!!

Your words hold the power of life and death.  SPEAK LIFE!!!!! Decree and see the victory!!
