Identity in Christ Series: Week Eleven. I Am A Branch in the Vine of Christ (Part 1)

In researching vineyard care and maintenance I discovered some amazing things that all point to how our Heavenly Father cares for us, the branches, in the Vine of Christ.  Today we will look at the the first three tasks of the vinedresser and the importance of each task.  We will also see how each task relates to the care we receive from the Father.              First, the vinedresser grafts branches into the established vine.  When new branches are brought in they do not have the natural immunities to diseases, parasites, and insects that the regional, established vine does.  Vinedressers graft the new branches up the vine, away from the ground.  As long as the branches don’t touch the ground they will be protected by the immunity of the vine, however, if they droop down to touch the ground they will quickly become infested and diseased.  So be subject to God. Resist the devi...

Identity in Christ Series: Week Ten. I Am Wonderfully Made

Mankind was created by God.  In creating each of us, God placed in each of us a part of Himself. He authorized us to have dominion over the earth and all of creation. He had/has a plan and purpose for each of our lives.  He invested in our formation in the womb, and He made us wonderfully.   First we see that after God had completed all of creation, by the Word of His Power, he took dust with His hands and formed a man.  Instead of speaking man into being, God, the Almighty Creator of the universe, stooped down low and formed man.  Then the L ORD  God  formed [that is, created the body of] man from the  dust of the ground… (Genesis 2:7a AMP) Wow!!!! What happened next is even more mind blowing!!!  He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (His spirit).   and  breathed into his nostrils the breath of life ; and the man became a living being [an individual complete in body and spirit]. (Genesis 2:7b AMP) (Emphasis min...

Identity in Christ Series: Week Nine I Am Righteous

Romans 1:18-3:20 describe for us the fallen, helpless condition of mankind.  There is no hope or any way man can redeem himself from the curse of the law.  Romans 3: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:21-26 shows us the way for mankind to become righteous and will be our primary text for this study.   Romans 3:21-26 (NLT) 21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. 22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People...
